Picsel Viewer

Picsel Viewer is a application that had me befuddled when I first looked at it. Preinstalled by Sony on my NX80V, I wasn't quite sure what to make of it, especially since I already had some of my own, 2nd party document viewers installed, that I had been using for a while. Plus the fact that I couldn't figure out how to install any documents into the application (real men don't read instructions!). So basically I ignored it for a while. If it had been a bigger file in fact, I probably would have erased it from my Clie, and what a mistake that would have been. What Picsel Viewer is, is simply the best PDF document viewer that I have been able to find (and that includes Repligo, which caused me about a week of pain six months ago). To install documents onto Picsel Viewer, you use anopther Clie program; Data Import / Export. This program allows your computer to recognize your Clie as simply another drive and from there on out it's simple drag and drop (also a sweet way of getting mp3's onto Clie's). The documention link I provided above tells you all you need to really know about Picsel Viewer in just a couple of pages. For me it has turned out to be a must have program; the great pdf viewer that had been lacking in all other document viewers that I had tried.

Testing BlogJet

I have installed an interesting application - BlogJet. It's a cool Windows client for my blog tool (as well as for other tools). Get your copy here: http://blogjet.com

My Sony PDA crashed this weekend(you never think it will happen to you!) I had downloaded a theme for a new program (Z launcher) and when I installed it the screen locked up blank! No amount of soft resets would restore it, so I had to do the dreaded hard reset. I had no backup and had to manually restore all my programs and whatever data I could recover. It took about 4 hours of solid work and the 1st new thing I bought after I was finished was a backup program! In a way it was a good thing, as I now have all the latest versions of my programs installed. There were also a couple of programs that I didn't bother installing again, so that freed up some memory too.

There have been many articles out regarding the death of straight PDA's at the hands of PDA/Phone hybrids. Here's the latest from USA today.

Okay, my new commenting system (SquawkBox.tv) is activated and running fine. Apparently, in the switch over from Blogspeak (my old commenting system, now defunct) to Haloscan (who took over Blogspeak's comments), my account was somehow lost, and instead of going to the trouble of getting it reactivated, I just switched over to SquawkBox instead.
This is just a test of my new SquawkBox.tv commenting system.

My latest software purchase is PowerRUN. It's an older app that lets me run programs off of my memory stick rather than from internal memory. It works great! My latest hardware addition is a Brando screen protector. I don't have it in hand yet, but have heard great things about the Brando's. On my wish list; Strip Blackjack by Cherrysoft. Just because :)
Looks like blogspeak is temporarily down. Not a half bad rant!

Update! Blogspeak has been acquired by Haloscan. Commenting should be activated again soon.
